ÉRIC NOGUÈS, SCENOGRAPHER

Éric Noguès has always been a passionate proponent of all forms of visual arts and the possibilities in which they can occupy space. He is talented graduate of Paris’ École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques in Set Design for opera and theatre. As such, he has had the opportunity to practice his trade in a wide variety of projects over the past twenty years. His versatility, his talent and his creativity are no strangers to his growing renown in Europe and in Canada.

He started his career under the wings of set designer Bernard Michel, with whom he created theatre and opera sets for some of Europe’s most prestigious theatres.

At the beginning of his career, he completed professional training at l’École des arts et métiers en gestion de l’information, where he acquired a second specialization, that of exhibit scriptwriter. He went on to work for the visionary architect Confino&Co as scriptwriter and as project manager in museology. He directed projects for the Confino&Co agency in Germany, Italy and in Brazil.

In 2000, with architect set-designers Nathalie Chauvier and Nicolas Béquart he founded the collective Les Crayons. The team quickly developed their own creative language in set design, which they have used to devise a great number of exhibitions and museum projects in France and throughout the world to this day.

From 2006 to 2011, Éric was also the visual art director and set designer of the street segment Street Arts of the Just for Laughs Festival. In this capacity he has created more than a hundred installations for the Nantes, Montreal and Toronto festivals.

Since his return to France, he travels the world to design and create projects. Of late, he has contributed to the visual design of shows, special events and a multimedia installation in a theme park namely for Cirque du Soleil, 45 Degrees, Sid Lee, Mayumana, in France, Canada, China, Russia and Israel.
